Haitian Artists

Artwork from the Donald Garrabrant Collection, Chicago dated from 1970-1980's. This includes work by Rigaud Benoit, Bourmond Byron, Edouard Duval-Carrie, Serge Jolimeau, Joseph Louisjuste, André Pierre, and Joseph Valcin.

Bourmond Byron was born in Jacmel. He paints his subjects in his infamous blue-green tones, which are submerged in semi-mystical luminescence. Byron is known for his portrayal of Haitian life and dream landscapes.
